A brief overview of X-Rite new measurement device eXact!
Have a look at the english webinar – 30 minutes for a compact presentation:
and read all the deeper information in the Q&A section below:
Q: What are the Key differentiators from eXact over Techkon SpectroDens?
A: Some of the key differentiators are:
- - eXact is the only device that supports M1 part 1
- - One click measurement of M0, M2 and M3 conditions
- - Measurement area is clearly visible for targeting
- - Very Intuitive – Touch Screen Display
- - Customizable user interface
- - Integrated Pantone libraries
- - Connectivity to PantoneLIVE
- - Optional software (NetProfiler) to manage multiple units
- - Expandable software (iQC Print, InkFormulation, NetProfiler, and more)
Q: How is the calibration affected by circumstances, like operating the X-Rite device in a darker room, a room with heavy sunlight etc.? Are there any circumstances that needs to be considered (light temperature)…
A: The calibration is NOT affected by the lightness (dark room, heavy sun-light etc.)
Q: Is software also available for Mac?
Q: Can it measure the strength of white?
A: The eXact Advanced support multiple white and yellow indexes, as well as color strength
Q: Are the measurements compatible, comparable to SpectroEye’s measurements?
A: SpectroEye’s calibrated to XRGA standard are comparable with eXact.
Q: What about a recertification, yearly?
A: We recommend a yearly re-certification. >> for more info check xrite.com/support_warranty
Q: How can the PantoneLIVE libraries be updated when there is an update available in the cloud?
A: The eXact Manager Software is linked to PantoneLIVE . In order to get the PantoneLIVE libraries you will need to purchase a license. Once this is done the eXact Manager will get’s notified when there is an update available to the relevant libraries.
Q: In the eXact is the D50 filter, which needs to be manually mounted by default, included or is it an option?
A: It is included and part of every eXact measurement device. It is a switch on the side of the device.
Q: Am I correct to assume that with Bluetooth you can connect wirelessly with a computer and an X-Rite software?, Which software would that be? (Only the eXact manager?)?
A: With the Bluetooth option the PC can communicate to the eXact as if it would be attached with USB cable. All software that supports the eXact can receive measurements data from the device via Bluetooth. With the eXact DataCatcher software (included) you can forward the measurement data to any other software, for example Excel.
The eXact Manager software requires the device to be connected via USB, as the purpose of this software is to manage the device, that means download and upload of standards and job templates, which have a higher data volume than pure measurements, that requires a much quicker and safer communication to the device.
Q: What is the Accuracy & Repeatability?
A: You can find all the product specifications under the following link: xrite.com/documents/literature/
Q: Can this connect directly to a Mac or is it just PC?
A: You can connect only to PC
Q: If we always used D65 filter to do all our measurements, do I need to re-measure all the assortments when starting to use eXact?
A: The D65 filter in the SpectroEye creates an effective spectral distribution curve that is closer to the theoretical spectrum of D50 than D65. The SpectroEye measurement values for D65 can therefore be compared with the M1 values of the eXact. However, the SpectroEye does not contain a specific calibration of the UV level. D65 assortments can be used with eXact (latest InkFormulation 6.11 is prepared for that).
